History of CMA Fest

Founded by the Country Music Association, the festival got its start in 1972 as a way to bring country music stars closer to their fans. It’s one of the longest-running country music festivals in the world. The first festival brought around 5,000 country music enthusiasts to Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, setting the stage that fans know and love now.

The CMA Foundation behind these nightly concerts is dedicated to improving music education. Every ticket purchased to this downtown Nashville epic goes to support their cause.

This music festival has grown into a multi-day affair. It’s one of the only music festivals that can boast of being filmed by a television special for 15 years consecutively.

CMA Fest fans get treated to the largest country music festival in the world with six stages, including a riverfront stage, a Chevrolet Vibes stage, and Dr. Pepper Amp Stage. Each stage offers spectacular and different views, offering the ultimate country music fan experience.

CMA Headliners

CMA Fest always brings in incredible stars, from Carrie Underwood to Jason Aldean to Miranda Lambert. The specific headliners of the CMA Fest change from year to year, so fans get to experience a variety of country music stars performing their best hits. CMA Fest 2023 boasts Luke Combs, Luke Bryan, and Miranda Lambert.

If you’d like to meet some of the top billers, the four-night stadium pass lets you into the Fan Fair X for extra special events. These include meet and greets and autograph sessions. The four-night stadium pass lets you into the Fan Fair X experience, where you can meet the best of the box office billing. (It also includes Lower Level Seating in Section 134.)

Where Are the CMAs Held?

CMA Fest kicks off in Nashville, Tennessee, at Nissan Stadium, close to the city’s riverfront. Before you go, you can easily familiarize yourself with the stadium’s layout with our interactive seating chart. The Club Level is air conditioned with concessions and restrooms.

Nissan Stadium’s location is about an hour and a half west of Nashville International Airport if you take public transport. By car, it will take you about half an hour to arrive at the stadium.

Located in the South, Nashville, Tennessee, gets pretty hot in the summer, so we recommend bringing along all the essentials for a long day out in the sun, including sunscreen, a sun visor, sunglasses, and other necessities.

Carry a refillable water bottle to ensure you stay hydrated. The stadium has several water stations to refill your water bottles. Be sure to bring in an empty water bottle, though, per the event’s requirements.

CMA Parking

Parking is one of the more frustrating aspects of heading to a music fest, and that’s no different for the world’s largest country music festival. Figure out parking ahead of time (including buying parking passes) so you don’t get stuck in traffic longer than necessary. Lucky for you, Nashville has many places to park, including open lots around the city that require a mobile phone to access.

You can find affordable parking at Music City Center, which is one of the closest places to park and will get you close to all of the action. Nissan Stadium also offers parking, including four-day pass parking. Metro Courthouse Garage also offers parking for CMA Fest patrons at 20 dollars a day.

Where To Eat at the CMAs

Dancing and singing with friends and family to your favorite country hits are among the best ways to work up a hearty appetite. Nashville is a city with some of the best offerings in food.

There are lots of awesome local food options around the city that you’ll want to try. While restaurants around Broadway will be crowded with fellow CMA Fest fans, there are still some great eateries there that you might want to check out, like Hattie B’s Hot Chicken, Luke’s 32 Bridge, and Acme Feed & Seed. Other local food options are The Grilled Cheeserie Food Truck, Winners Bar and Grill, and McDougals.
