History and Overview

Nationals Park is located along the Anacostia River in the Navy Yard neighborhood of Washington, D.C. at 1500 South Capitol St. The park opened in 2008, and is home to the Washington Nationals (formerly the Montreal Expos). National Park is the first LEED-certified green major professional sports stadium in the US, and has a seating capacity of 41,418.

Family Fun

If you are bringing the whole family out to a Washington Nationals game, you may want to consider purchasing tickets near center field, which is where the family fun area is located (adjacent to the Red Porch Restaurant). Kids will love the Strike Zone and Jungle Gym when they lose interest in the game and need to burn off some energy. Also, kids 12 and under can run the bases after select Sunday home games.

Seats in Shade

If you are looking to sit in the shade at Nationals Park, your best bet is in the last few rows of any field level sections. It is also worth noting that the sun sets behind the 3rd base side of the ballpark, so you are going to a late afternoon/night game those seats will be in the shade before the other side of the park.

Best Seats

The best seats for a Washington Nationals game are located in the premium sections described above, the Lexus Presidents Club, and the PNC Diamond Club. If those seats fall out of your price range, the Club level tickets around the infield (sections 206-221) are a fantastic option as well. Finally, if you are looking to get a bit rowdy at a Nationals game the outfield sections are a nice cheap option, and is where you will find the rowdiest of Nats fans. Just be sure to take the Metro to Nationals Park, so you don't have to worry about driving home!

PNC Diamond Seats

The PNC Diamond Seats are sections 119 to section 126. PNC Diamond Seats include all-inclusive food and beverage including draft-beer, house wine and soda, complimentary in seat food and beverage service and access to the PNC Diamond and Stars and Stripes Club. NOTE: The Home Plate reserve is section 119 and 126 and is rows K to R and do not provide any of the PNC Diamond perks.

Field Dimensions

The field dimensions for Nationals Park are as follows (all measurements from home plate): 337ft from Left-Field, 377ft to Left-Center, 402ft to Center, 370ft to Right-Center, and 335ft to Right-Field. Nationals Park does not favor hitters or pitchers, and is considered one of the most neutral parks in baseball.

Seat Numbers

The seat numbers at Nationals Park follow a standard pattern, in that seat number one will be closest to the right of any given section when facing the field. For example, seat number 1 in section 115 will be closest to section 116 or seat number 1 in sections 140 will be closest to sections 141.

Lexus Presidents Seats

The Lexus Presidents seats are considered the best seats in the house. The Lexus Presidents seats are in section A to E. However, rows E to L in Section A and E are called the Home Plate Box, and do not have access to the Lexus Presidents seats, instead they are PNC Diamond seats. Both include food and beer and wine, but they are different quality.

Dugouts and Bullpens

The Washington Nationals dugout is located in front of sections 127-130, and the visitors dugout is located in front of sections 115-118. The Washington Nationals bullpen is located in front of sections 138-139, and the visitors bullpen is located in front of sections 101-102.
